Heather Shaw Fort Wayne Concert reviews
Megadeth
Metal Church started strong with their opening song, but unfortunately, it went downhill from there. Mediocre 80s metal at best.
Amon Amarth delivered straight up Viking metal songs that were loved by the crowd. Their performance included intense renditions of Raise Your Horns, Pursuit of Vikings, Deceiver of the Gods, and Sea of Blood. Great crowd interaction and a Viking longboat as a stage prop made them the best of the show.
Suicidal Tendencies had a high energy performance with 1 or 2 new songs. The mosh pit opened immediately during the first song, and the band even participated in a "wall of death" and spent some time in the pit. Mike, the lead singer, delivered super positive preaching while players constantly crisscrossed the stage with Dave Lombardo driving the rhythm. A fun set for sure.
Heather Shaw expressed her feelings about Megadeth, stating that she is not a big fan of the band or Dave Mustaine. Despite trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, she found their performance underwhelming. The venue seemed too large for the show, especially with all the staging required for Megadeth's backdrop. Mustaine's performance as a frontman was criticized for being stiff and distant, with an awkward introduction to a song defending himself against charges of racism. The band's appearance in black collared long sleeve dress shirts added to the stiffness. While Symphony of Destruction was a highlight, the overall set lacked energy and draw for Heather. The metal crowd was also described as leaning douchy, giving Megadeth a meh -.
